Our School

NBPS Difference

North Broward Preparatory School offers challenging educational programming for college-bound students, PreK3 to grade 12. Our students come to us with a range of abilities, from gifted ability to mild learning disabilities. Thus NBPS can serve the range of student abilities typically found in children of most families.

North Broward Preparatory School offers students the best of contemporary independent school education. This includes differentiation, both within classrooms and within academic disciplines, to address the needs of all students. We offer regular college prep, Honors, Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses.

For college-bound students who have been diagnosed with mild specific learning disabilities, North Broward offers the Lighthouse Point Academy (LPA). The Academy’s prescriptive accommodations and personal support ensure student academic success within a college preparatory program. Depending on the individual's academic strengths and needs, a Lighthouse Point Academy student may be enrolled in a Fusion Schedule, simultaneously engaging in LPA and NBPS mainstream courses.
NBPS focuses on developing the 21st Century skills of critical thinking, problem solving, and group collaboration in all grades. Our Touchpoints Program links NBPS students with their counterparts in other domestic and international schools that belong to the Meritas International Family of Schools. NBPS students learn about and propose solutions to problems facing people globally.

We are committed to the development of the whole child and to helping each student discover his/her talents and special aptitudes. The school offers highly acclaimed Fine and Performing Arts programs. Our Interscholastic Athletics, leadership, and service experiences help shape students’ character, teach teamwork, and build confidence.

The school’s profile of college admissions gives vivid testimony to the success of North Broward Preparatory School. We provide students of varied abilities, interests, talents, and personal goals with the opportunity to pursue undergraduate education at their college or university of first choice.

The NBPS Advantage...
“We are not a mirror image of any other school. So, who are we? We are truly the whole-family school, with a strong full spectrum college preparatory curriculum and the strength of our Lighthouse Point Academy. We are the intimate school with big heart… each child is truly understood, respected, and valued. We are a community of families woven together for the purpose of educating and nurturing all of our children, with all their various strengths and challenges. We are the school where children discover their individual gifts and talents… which they will develop here and take out into the world. We are preparing our children for amazing next steps, whether the Ivy League, a Florida University, or whatever their best fits may be.”

Cindy Von Oehsen, NBPS Parent and Member of the Board of Trustees
